Class structure

Cygnet Swimmers.  (suitable for swimmers from age 4 years old and above)

Where: Cygnet classes take place in the shallowest area of the pool at Waverley School. (aprox 0.8m)
Max 4 in a class
Min requirements: no previous swimming experience required
Can achieve: STA Stanley Awards;

Beginner / Beginner 1: (for swimmers from age 5 years old and above)
Where: Beginner and Beginner 1 lessons usually take place in the first or second width at the shallow end of the pool.
Max 6 in a class
Min requirements: No previous swimming experience required.
Working towards: STA Octopus Awards. 5m distance award

Class 1: (suitable for swimmers from age 5 years old and above)

Where: Class 1 lessons usually take place in the  second or third width at the shallow end of the pool.
Max 6 in a class
Min requirements: 5m front and back unaided . Ability to comfortably submerge and float on both back and front.
Working towards: STA Octopus & Goldfish Awards & appropriate distance award

Class 1+: (suitable for swimmers from age 5 years old and above)

Where: Class 1+ lessons usually take place in the third width at the shallow end of the pool
Max 6 in a class
Min requirements: 10m front and back,(any style)
Working towards : STA Goldfish Awards and appropriate distance awards

Class 2: (suitable for swimmers from age 5 years old and above)

Where: Class 2 lessons can take place across a deep width or 15m length of the pool.
Max 6 in a class
Min requirements : Confident in deep water. 10m front and back consistently demonstrating good style and technique. Developing breaststroke. Developing butterfly
Working towards STA Goldfish 3 Award and Angelfish Awards plus appropriate distance awards

Class 2+/3

Where: Class 2+/3 lessons usually take place along the length of the pool.
Max 6 in a class
Min requirements : Confident in deep water. 15-25m front crawl and back crawl consistently demonstrating good style and technique. 10m – 15m breaststroke. 5-10m Butterfly kick
Working towards STA Angelfish & Shark 1 Awards plus appropriate distance awards

Class 3/4

Where: Class 3/4 lessons usually take place along the full length of the pool.
Max 6 in a class
Min requirements : Confident in deep water. 25-50m front crawl and back crawl consistently demonstrating good style and technique. 25m breast stroke.
Working towards STA Shark Awards plus appropriate distance awards

Class 5

Where: Class 5 lessons usually take place along the full length of the pool.
Max 6 in a class
Min requirements : Confident in deep water. 50m-100m+ front crawl and back crawl & Breast stroke consistently demonstrating good style and technique.
Working towards STA Shark 3 Awards, A.S.A Bronze, Silver & Gold Challenge awards plus appropriate distance awards.

Advanced Swimmers / Swim Fit
Various class numbers with classes provided on demand.
Working towards: gaining endurance/retaining fitness levels

Lifesaving
Various class numbers with classes provided on demand
Working towards: awareness of personal survival skills & lifesaving skills. Can achieve Rookie Bronze, Silver & Gold lifesaving awards then move onto RLSS Survive & Save Bronze, Silver & Gold Medallion Awards.
